Level Media Conference at Brahma Kumaris Silence Retreat Center Highlights Media’s Role in Peace and Unity

Hyderabad, Sunday: In a significant event aimed at fostering social harmony, Telangana Media Academy Chairman K. Srinivas Reddy emphasized the critical role of the media in establishing peace in today’s divided society. Speaking as the chief guest at a state-level media conference held at the Brahma Kumaris Silence Retreat Center near Bibinagar, Reddy called upon journalists and media outlets to guide society towards unity, transcending caste and religious divides.

Addressing the theme, “Role of Media in Social Unity and Peace-Building, Reddy urged media professionals to dedicate themselves to the cause of social peace, stressing that both progress and peace must go hand-in-hand for societal development. He also highlighted the vital role of journalists in reducing economic inequalities and promoting social cohesion.

Reddy praised the Brahma Kumaris for their outstanding work in peace-building across the globe, particularly for offering services without discriminating against caste or religion. He encouraged journalists to uphold truthfulness and ethical values, which he identified as essential for gaining public trust and credibility. He further suggested that social media should be properly regulated, with journalists continually updating their skills and technology.

The event also featured insights from several prominent speakers, including B. K. Sarala, Vice-Chairperson of the Brahma Kumaris Mount Abu Media Wing, who emphasized the importance of personal calm and a positive attitude for journalists. According to Sarala, the organization is working to spread peace through Raja Yoga training across different sections of society.

Other notable attendees included Former Press Council Member Uppala Lakshman, who advocated for media reporting that avoids fueling caste and religious conflicts, and Hyderabad Press Club President L. Venugopal Naidu, who stressed the importance of promoting peace and harmony in these times of rising tensions.

Mount Abu Media National Coordinator Shantanu praised Brahma Kumaris for their unique contribution to global peace, particularly through their spiritual programs led by women. Former Vice Chancellor of KBT Journalism University, Indore, Mansingh Parmar, encouraged journalists to delve deeper into the principles of democracy and constitutional values.

The conference concluded with a celebration of Environment Day, where saplings were distributed, and meditation sessions were conducted to help journalists manage mental stress.

The event was attended by a large group of journalists from the Telugu states and twin cities, reflecting the growing interest in using media as a tool for positive change and societal peace.
